Rebecca Garverman is a Staff Attorney in the Center for Biological Diversity’s Oceans Program. A Massachusetts-licensed attorney based in Boston, Rebecca previously served as Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Nonhuman Rights Project and, before that, was a Staff Attorney for Harvard Law School’s Animal Law & Policy Clinic. Rebecca holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.S. from MIT. She’s worked in corporate law at Goodwin Procter and is actively involved in the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Animal Law Practice Group. Some of her notable achievements include presenting oral arguments to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, advocating to protect Tule Elk, and to the Western District of New York, challenging the USDA over inhumane slaughter practices.
