David Favre is currently a professor of law at the College of Law, Michigan State University. Prior to joining the faculty, he was a practicing attorney in Virginia. David has also taught at the University of Auckland, New Zealand; Lewis & Clark School of Law; and University Atumous Barcelona, Law College.
Mr. Favre is a pioneer in animal law and has written several articles and books about animal cruelty, animal rights, wildlife law, the property status of animals, and international control of trade in endangered species. He has presented to international audiences on these topics and hosted international academic conferences in the United States, Spain, and Hong Kong.
David’s books include Animal Law: Welfare, Interest, and Rights (3ed), Respecting Animal, The Future of Animal Law, and International Trade in Endangered Species. He is the creator and editor-in-chief of the Animal Legal and Historical Web Center, which has been serving the public for many years.
David was a founding board member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund and of the ABA Committee on Animal Law and was honored with the “Excellence in Animal Law” Award from the AALS Animal Law Section.
