Ms. Judy Muriithi is an environmental and animal rights attorney based in Kenya, serving as the Executive Director of Lawyers for Animal Protection in Africa (LAPA). A 2026 Future For Nature Award nominee, she operates at the intersection of strategic litigation, technology, and species conservation across the continent.

She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Animal Law from Lewis & Clark Law School, where she was an International Advocates Animal Law Scholar. She is the developer of the Wildlife Information Tracking System (WITS), which is a data-driven platform to track wildlife crime cases, and optimize wildlife crime analytics. She leverages her legal background to counter the illegal wildlife trade, using systemic legal interventions and trial monitoring to strengthen wildlife justice frameworks.

On the animal welfare front, she continues to actively challenge the farm-centric, industrial model of agriculture, advocating for legislative reforms, sustainable alternatives to factory farming, and humanely integrated animal husbandry practices across Sub-Saharan Africa. Through her leadership at LAPA and innovative tech-legal initiatives, Judy continues to bridge the gap between legal policy, local communities, and animal protection.
