Haley Stewart is a senior program manager in public policy for Humane World for Animals, previously called the Humane Society of the United States. She oversees the organization’s local, state and federal policy work to advance protections for animals in the global fur trade, primarily by putting an end to fur factory farming and the sale of new fur products.
Haley has been a professional animal welfare and wildlife conservation advocate for more than a decade and is highly skilled in public policy and grassroots organizing. Prior to joining Humane World for Animals, Haley worked as the California program associate for Defenders of Wildlife and as the senior legislative fellow for the Congressional Progressive Caucus under its former co-chairs Raúl Grijalva and Keith Ellison.
She holds an M.S. in environmental studies from Antioch University New England and a B.A. in philosophy, with a focus on environmental ethics, and general biology from the University of California at San Diego. Haley also recently obtained a graduate certificate in wildlife management from Oregon State University.
